Adult Group Tennis Lessons — All Levels Welcome

Small-group coaching for adults who want to learn, improve, and play consistently in a structured, friendly environment.

Whether you’ve never held a racquet, stepped away from the game years ago and want to return, or you’re a regular player looking to sharpen your technique, there is a session designed for you.

Sessions are 60 minutes long and led by a qualified Tennis Australia coach. Groups are kept small so that your coach can give you real, individual feedback every session — watching your technique, correcting your footwork, and giving you specific observations rather than running general drills from a distance.

This program suits adults who want to:

  • Learn tennis properly in a welcoming, non-intimidating setting , no experience required
  • Meet other people in the North Ryde, Meadowbank, Macquarie Park, and West Ryde area who enjoy sport
  • Improve their game with structured coaching rather than just hitting around
  • Find a regular weekly activity that is both physically active and genuinely social.

You don’t need to own a racquet. You don’t need a partner. And there’s no fitness level you need to reach before you start.

What Is Adult Group Tennis — and Who Is It For?

Adult Group Tennis is a coached program where a small number of adults share court time under the guidance of a qualified Tennis Australia coach. It sits between private lessons (just you and a coach) and casual social play — you get structured coaching and genuine skill development, in a group setting that is more affordable and more social than individual sessions.

At Ryde Multisport and Racquet Centre, each session runs for 60 minutes. Your coach covers all strokes, individual technique corrections, court movement, and singles and doubles tactics relevant to your level. Sessions are structured and repeatable — meaning you can return each week and build on what you did the week before, rather than starting from scratch every time.

It is designed for adults who are:

  • Complete beginners who want a proper introduction to the sport
  • Returning players who played socially or at school and want to get back on court
  • Intermediate players who want to play more consistently and understand the game better
  • Adults looking for a regular activity that combines exercise, skill-building, and social connection

Beginner (60 Minutes)

New to tennis, or returning after a significant break. Sessions focus on the fundamentals: racquet grip, court positioning, making consistent contact with the ball, and basic serving. The emphasis is on building confidence at a pace that suits the group — not overwhelming you with technique from day one.

📅 Monday @ 6pm
📅 Wednesday @ 6pm & 7pm
📅 Friday @ 6pm & 7pm
📅 Saturday @ 9:30am
📅 Sunday @ 8:00am

Intermediate (60 Minutes)

For adults who can sustain a rally and are ready to develop consistency, court movement, and tactical understanding.

📅 Monday @ 7:00pm
📅 Wednesday @ 6:00pm & 7:00pm
📅 Saturday @ 9:30am
📅 Sunday @ 8:00am

What Our Players Say

Why Adult Group Tennis at Ryde Multisport and Racquet Centre

Small groups mean real, individual feedback. Groups are deliberately kept small so that your coach can observe your technique, correct your grip, and give you specific observations every session — not just run general drills from a distance. This is the practical difference between group coaching and casual court hire.

Levels are kept separate, so you are always in the right group. Beginner sessions are genuinely designed for beginners. You won’t be out-paced by players who have been competing for years. Intermediate sessions challenge players who already have a foundation. The schedule is structured so you can find your level and develop at your own pace.

Multiple session times across the week give you real flexibility. With beginner and intermediate sessions available on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, you have more options than most tennis centres in the area. Most players settle into one consistent session per week, but flexibility is there if your schedule changes.

It builds into a real community. Many adults who start in the beginner group go on to join Social Tennis, enter the Tennis Competition, or try the School Holiday Camp as a way to accelerate their progress. There’s always a natural next step — and familiar faces along the way.

Your first session is free. New players receive a free introductory session. Try it before you commit to anything — see the facility, meet the coach, and experience the group with no obligation.

The centre offers more than just tennis. Ryde Multisport & Racquet Centre is one of very few facilities in the North Ryde area where you can play Tennis, Pickleball, Basketball, and Padel under one roof. If you’re looking for a community sports hub rather than just a tennis venue, this is it.

How to Be Part of Our Adult Group Tennis Program

Getting started is straightforward. Here is what the process looks like from your first enquiry to your first session on court.

Review the two levels above — Beginner or Intermediate — and identify where you fit. If you are genuinely unsure, call or email us first and we will give you a straight recommendation based on your background.

Both levels run across multiple days of the week. Review the schedule and find a time that works consistently for your week. Most players settle into one regular session, which is where steady, visible improvement tends to happen.

New players receive a free introductory session. Contact us to arrange it before your first booking — it’s the simplest way to see whether the group, the coaching, and the facility are the right fit for you, with no obligation.

Download the adult groups timetable or book directly online. For direct debit options or any questions, call (02) 9888 7466 or email info.nr@ssmgroup.com.au.

Arrive a few minutes before your session. Wear comfortable athletic clothing and flat-soled shoes — court shoes are ideal over time, but standard runners are fine to start with. Let us know ahead of time if you need a racquet for your first session.

After a few sessions, your coach will give you a clear sense of where you’re progressing and what to focus on next. Social Tennis and the Tennis Competition are natural complements to coaching — more court time, with the same community of players.
