2Hot Shots kids tennis
Hot Shots is Tennis Australia's national kids tennis program, delivered at Tennis World North Ryde for children aged 3 to 12. It uses modified courts, age-appropriate racquets and lower-bouncing balls so children can rally from their first lesson. Our kids tennis classes page has the current timetable, and our Hot Shots stage-by-stage guide explains every stage in detail.
Stages run from Kinder through Blue, Red, Orange, Green and Yellow to the squad programs. Age is only a guide: coaches assess each child and place them in the stage that fits, and our guide to what changes between each kids tennis stage explains why.
| Stage | Session | Price per session |
|---|---|---|
| Kinder (from age 3) | Ask the team | Ask the team |
| Blue (Launch Pad) | 30 min | $29 |

Worth knowing before you enrol:
- Free trial. Every new family can start with a free trial lesson, and coaches confirm stage placement on the day.
- Active Kids voucher. NSW families can use an Active Kids voucher for $50 off enrolment. Email it to us before you register. Vouchers come through Service NSW, where the program is now called Active and Creative Kids, and Service NSW sets the eligibility rules. Our kids tennis pricing guide explains how the voucher applies.
- Equipment. Loan racquets are available for trial sessions. For ongoing classes, children need their own racquet sized to their stage and flat-soled court shoes. Our Kids Tennis Equipment Guide covers sizes by stage.
- Your coach. Paul Testoni, our Hot Shots Coordinator, holds Tennis Australia Junior Development Level 1 and Club Professional Level 2 qualifications and has worked for Sydney Sports Management Group since 2018.
- One-on-one coaching. Private coaching is available separately, and our guide on how to know if private coaching is right for your child helps you decide.
Next step: book a free Hot Shots trial and the coach will confirm your child's stage, or see the kids tennis classes page for the timetable and enrolment forms.

7How to book in
- Pick your lane. Junior Hot Shots, adult coaching, social tennis, pickleball, holiday camp or court hire each have their own booking path.
- Call or email if you're unsure. (02) 9888 7466 or info.nr@ssmgroup.com.au will get you matched to the right Hot Shots stage or adult level before you pay for anything.
- Start with a trial. Use the free Hot Shots trial or the adult first session rather than booking a full block cold.
- Ask about your preferred time. The slot matters as much as the program, and popular weeknight and weekend times can fill.
- Book camp days early. Single days and after-care spots are the first to go once the school holidays start.
Common mistakes to avoid
- Assuming every time slot is open. Popular weeknight adult classes and weekend Hot Shots times can fill, so check before you build your week around one.
- Skipping the trial. Buying a 10-pack before trying a session is the easiest way to end up at the wrong level.
- Forgetting the Active Kids voucher. It is $50 off Hot Shots enrolment for eligible NSW families, and it needs to be emailed to us before you register.
- Mixing up social tennis and coaching. Social tennis is a Sunday hit with players of a similar standard. Group coaching is a structured lesson with a coach.
- Assuming a pickleball tournament is coming up. The tournament page lists one past event, so confirm dates with the team first.
- Leaving camp bookings to the last week. Single days and after-care fill first once the holidays begin.
